Rachel MorganSinger, Songwriter, Choral Conductor
A native of Louisiana, Rachel Morgan lived most of her early years in Kentwood. The oldest of four children, she comes from a very musical family. She literally grew up singing and performing at home, school and at church. During Rachel’s childhood and teen years she lived in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and then in western Howard County, Maryland, where her dad was called to serve churches as worship pastor.
Rachel is a very gifted, multi-faceted musician. She is a remarkable singer. She is also a highly skilled songwriter, choral director, and vocal coach. She has written and performed numerous solo pieces and choral works. She holds a Masters of Music degree in Music Education from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland, and a Bachelors of Music Education from Wheaton College Wheaton, Illinois. She has done additional studies at McDaniel College, Westminster, Maryland, in folk and world music, dance, and art.
Rachel is currently the Choral Director and the Guitar & General Music Teacher at North Carroll Middle School, Carroll County, Maryland. A finalist for Carroll County Public Schools’ “Teacher of the Year 2015” award, Rachel taught elementary school vocal/general music for nine years before transferring to middle school. Rachel also conducts an advanced, auditioned treble ensemble for the Children’s Chorus of Carroll County. Her choral groups have received numerous awards including a “Best Choral Group” at the 2014 Heritage Music Festival in Philadelphia. In the spring of 2015 her choir was selected to participate in a National Children’s Choir performance at New York City’s Carnegie Hall. Another of her groups was selected to tour with Henry Leck (world-famous children’s choir director and publisher) in the European cities of Vienna, Salzburg, and Prague.
Rachel also currently serves as the Associate Artistic Director and Mentor Teacher of Lamplight Artists’ “All About Kids Productions” and has worked on special projects with Lamplight as a performer, composer, trainer, and clinician. Lamplight Artists produces creative arts camps for children around the country.
Rachel volunteers as both a vocalist and keyboardist at LifePoint Church, Westminster, Maryland, where she has participated in mission trips most recently to Ukraine, ministering to young adults and to teenagers/children who are part of the Ukrainian orphan system. Other pursuits and interests include reading, watching movies, kayaking, and hanging out with her family.
Rachel is available to (1) sing special music or an entire concert at your church, (2) to be a featured soloist at your conference or retreat, (3) coach your worship singers or choir, (4) help prepare your choir or worship team for seasonal music (Christmas, Easter, Patriotic, etc.), or (5) write a special worship song for your ministry or special event.
